Phi Delta Theta

Arkansas Alpha Chapter

The Arkansas Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta is one of the strongest and most active chapters in the nation. Founded at the University of Arkansas on October 8, 1948, Phi Delta Theta is one of the largest brotherhoods on campus with over 120 active members, and over 1700 initiated members.

Phi Delta Theta is active and involved around campus with members holding leadership positions in organizations such as Associate Student Government, Interfraternity Council, New Greek Council, Student Alumni, and UATV. Arkansas Alpha is also committed to philanthropy. In the past year, Phi Delt has hosted a volleyball tournament, cookout and fundraiser for the American Red Cross, as well as participating in many other campus and community service-oriented events.

The brothers of Phi Delta Theta have excelled in new member recruitment in recent years, during fall and spring recruitment period(s). Last year's deferred recruitment brought another phenomenal recruitment class to Phi Delt. We met quota 100%! Throughout the year, our chapter host various events. Such as: Casino Night, Destination Unknown, Viking, and 3 Kings are some of our social highlights.

On April 25, 2005, Phi Delta Theta was one of six chapters chosen as a recipient of the the Greek Life Award of Excellence award. This award is given to top Greek-lettered organizations on the UofA campus. Arkansas Alpha met the qualifications of Excellence in Scholarship, Community Service, Risk Management Development, New Member Education, IFC & Greek Relations, Alumni Relations, and University/Greek Life Relations. Alumni Skip Rutherford was also the recipient of the Greek Hall of Fame award. Both awards were a tremendous honor for our brotherhood!

Phi Delt has an extensive alumni base that includes such names as Arkansasan's Johnny Tyson (CEO Tyson Foods), Skip Rutherford (President of William Jefferson Clinton Library), and Jennings Osborne (Arkansas Philanthropist, who play active roles in the advancement of the Fraterntiy through fundraising and public outreach support. Brothers and alumni of Arkansas Alpha are excited to announce future renovations to their house. Currently, Phi Delt is working with University officials and private contractors to develop plans for a multi-million dollar renovation of the house, which should be complted with the next eighteen months.
