The Kappa Alpha Order's rich history and tradition is second to none among all the national fraternities in America. Kappa Alpha Order was founded on December 21st, 1865 at Washington College (now Washington and Lee University) in Lexington, Virginia and was first established as a part of the Lexington Triad along with Sigma Nu and Alpha Tau Omega. The Order was founded upon a tradition of chivalry and of the values of the gentleman. This is reminiscent of a romanticized version of the knights of old.

This all culminates into a modern college fraternal experience. A member of Kappa Alpha Order strives to offer reverence to both God and women, as described in our motto "Dieu et les Dames." Further, the idea that "Excellence is our Aim" further emboldens members to always apply themselves to self-improvement, realizing that you should always continue to strive for excellence. Finally, being that the organization is an Order, members typically have an idea of the above values before joining.

Kappa Alpha does not intend to change anyone, rather bond together those men who have these similar values so that they may experience brotherhood, and pursue improvement, with one another.

Our chapter here at the University of Arkansas, Kappa Alpha Order's Alpha Omicron Chapter, was founded April 27, 1895 and was one of the original three fraternities on campus. Since 1895, our chapter has enjoyed a proud and distinguished heritage and we look forward to prosperous future.

Mission: Kappa Alpha Order seeks to create a lifetime experience which centers on reverence to God, duty, honor, character and gentlemanly conduct as inspired by Robert E. Lee, our spiritual founder.
